Nicole Sarrocco taught in public schools and as a private tutor for over 30 years. An author herself, she coaches writers of all levels. She lives in a rowdy multigenerational household with her mother, her brother, and her teenaged son. Nicole’s brother Tony provided the foundation for her interest in education for adults with IDD, and teaching for a decade at a residential STEM high school challenged her to find new paths of instruction for students on the autism spectrum. After serving as Tony’s Direct Support Professional with TDAS, Nicole is excited to bring her worlds together in her role as Day Services Program Supervisor.
Though Nicole attended the University of North Carolina three times (B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in English), she was raised to back the Pack. She also has a master’s in creative writing from Georgia State University, and she has earned teaching commendations from the University of Chicago and from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for her work with high school students. She’s inspired by all the people she’s met as a memoir guide, and she sees it as a serious honor to help people find and tell their own stories. Her own two children, Veronica and Linus, make her heart grow three sizes just about every day. When left unsupervised, she will find her way to a bookstore, an art gallery, or any place with live music.
