Dominique McLendon, a native North Carolinian, graduated from North Carolina Central University in 2016 where she received her BS in Public Health. Dominique started her journey with serving individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities as a child. She assisted her grandmother with caring for foster children who had disabilities. This provided a deep passion for continuing a career in the field. Dominique continued providing service to individuals through one-on-one care while obtaining her degree. Following graduation Dominique became a lead DSP within multiple group homes in the Durham area and later got promoted to house manager. Wanting to serve at a higher-level Dominique became a community navigator/care manager with The Arc of NC where she gained extensive understanding of Medicaid, advocacy, resource locating, and crisis management. After having her daughter prematurely, Dominique decided to take a short sabbatical to ensure her medical needs were attended to. Dominique has returned to work to continue her passion of serving the IDD community while providing a loving environment for everyone she meets.
